JOHNS HOPKINS GIOVANIS INSTITUTE FOR TRANSLATIONAL CELL BIOLOGY
Ted Giovanis is donating $35 million to help Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers find ways to stop the spread of cancer in the body, which leads to about two-thirds of cancer deaths.
Scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine will study the biological roots of the most fatal aspect of cancer: how it metastasizes, or spreads, through the body.
The contribution, a 15-year commitment, will establish the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology, dedicated to studying metastasis. The institute’s researchers aim to make discoveries that reveal common features of metastasis across cancer types, with the potential to develop new therapies.

Funding innovative medical research, data analysis, events, and other projects, the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy serves as an honest, independent broker of ideas and actions designed to advance both health care and health policy.
The JKTG Foundation’s work is rooted in an equally simple questions: Why are things done a certain way? This relentless curiosity drives every aspect of what the Foundation does.
